presents
QUICK 'N EASY KAIZEN
The Quick 'n Easy Kaizen (QnEK) program is a system that engages employees in conscious improvement. QnEK recognizes that employees are autonomous within some aspects of their work. The system focuses on small changes that are generally within the individual's area of responsibility and authority, therefore they don't need permission or approvals.
Repeatedly engaging employees to take ownership and think through the situation before the improvement, after the improvement, and the effect of the improvement, builds the foundational problem-solving mindset, attitude, and skills in the organization.
Presenter:
Join the DFW CoP of the Lean Construction Institute as
Rebecca Bettler presents Quick n" Easy Kaizen.
Rebecca Bettler is an Associate Principal with Lean Project Consulting as well as the Treasurer for the company. Prior to joining LPC in the early fall of 2008, she had 12 years of varied experience working for one of the nation's largest concrete swimming pool companies. She held multiple positions with the firm, including Scheduler, General Manager, NE Regional Manager, Corporate Lean Consultant, Director of Customer Acquisition and a few others. She found her passion in 2006, when she held the position of Corporate Lean Consultant. During this time, Rebecca began learning and teaching others around the country how to view and do their work from a lean perspective. She utilized what she learned and co-created a reorganization plan for the company's largest division, and was then tasked with implementing and running the division.
Since joining LPC, Rebecca has worked with and coached owners, architects, contractors, and engineers, led strategic planning sessions, implemented Responsibility-based Project Delivery™,
Last Planner ® System and various other lean practices. She has co-developed the 10-hour Conducting Good 5-Whys ™ and Quick n' Easy Kaizen for Supervisors courses and has trained them both numerous times. She has been actively learning how to use and train Choosing By Advantages, the sound decision-making system. Rebecca is the co-author of No-Fault Problem-Solving and How to Use A3 Reports on Projects.

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
The Dallas Fort Worth Community of Practice of LCI provides local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors, and suppliers. We invite owners and project delivery team members to meet together as a local user group to learn, share, and develop a lean community in DFW. As a regional forum for conversations among practitioners, the CoP will help create a new common sense for the AEC industry as LCI continues to build knowledge in design and construction.
